Dirty Snowman

If you ever needed an excuse to get in the kitchen and whip up something chocolate, now you now have the perfect one!

Our Dirty Snowman recipe is truly delectable and indulgent, and it makes the perfect dessert. When you combine lavender with chocolate, magic happens. The delicate floral notes of lavender pair perfectly with the richness and depth of chocolate. We know you might be skeptical but trust us.

Ingredients

  • Lavender Sugar
  • 1-2 oz Lavender Syrup
  • 1-2 oz Richardo’s Decaf Coffee Liqueur
  • 1 scoop Vanilla Ice Cream (approximately 1/2 cup)
  • Hot Cocoa Mix (1 package or according to directions on cannister)
  • 8 oz. Hot Water
  • 1 Tbsp Lavender Fudge Sauce
  • 1-pint Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1/4 cup Lavender Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Chocolate Sprinkles

Step 1: Rub the rim of a mason jar mug with lavender simple syrup, and then dip the rim in lavender sugar, coating evenly. Place one scoop of vanilla ice cream into the mug. Add 1 oz of lavender simple syrup and 1 oz of coffee liqueur.

Step 2:
Add hot cocoa mix to a small pitcher, pour the hot water over the mix and stir well. Add the warm cocoa to the mason jar. Warm the lavender hot fudge sauce in the microwave for 5-15 seconds. Top the drink with Lavender Whipped Cream (see recipe below), drizzle with lavender fudge sauce, and top with chocolate sprinkles.

Lavender whipped cream -- add heavy cream and lavender sugar to the chilled bowl of a stand mixer. Use the wire whisk attachment to a stand mixer, or a hand-held mixer, beat the ingredients together starting on low speed, slowly increasing to high speed as it begins to firm up. Beat for 60-90 seconds, until stiff peaks form.

***This drink can be partially prepared in advance by following Step 1. Then place mug(s) in the freezer, and make sure to remove mug(s) 15 minutes before adding the hot cocoa. Make lavender whipped cream (see recipe), and refrigerate.

This is a very rich beverage, or should I say dessert that is sure to WOW friends and family! I prefer to use Richardo’s Decaf Coffee Liqueur (unfortunately not available in all states) instead of a caffeinated liqueur. Use a high-quality cocoa mix or make cocoa from scratch, and definitely don’t skimp on fresh whipped cream with lavender sugar.

This recipe has become a winter staple in our house, and we hope you will love it as much as we do! We love getting to share our love for lavender and lavender-based recipes with the world.
